Rosie O'Donell Quits The View

Rosie O'Donell is said to quit her role as one of the talk show hosts from The View. Brian Frons, the president of ABC Daytime TV said that he had hoped for Rosie O'Donell to stay with the show until the end of the contract which would be just 3 weeks from now. Barbara Walters, who is The View's creator and co-executive producer said that Rosie O'Donell was a big contributer to one of the most exciting and sucessful years at The View. And that their close and affectionate relationship will not change. In fact, Barbara was the one who brought Rosie in to the show.

How did it all happen? Why did Rosie decided to quit so suddenly? Some say it has to do with her spat with co-host Elizabeth Hassselbeck. Rose O'Donell, known for her unabashedly liberal views, and Hasselbeck, who is a political conservative, have sparred frequently on the show, although they profess to be good friends off-camera. At an interview, Rosie had said that she is extremely grateful and that she loves all three women at The View, including Hasselbeck.

Their latest exchange last Wednesday, perhaps their most heated one, was a continuation of a debate over the Iraq war that began last week when Rosie O'Donell said on the show, "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?" Supporters of the US war effort accused O'Donnell of equating American soldiers with terrorists, and Hasselbeck said on Wednesday that Rosie O'Donell should clarify her statement.

Rosie did say that she planned to return to The View next season for special segments and as a recurring guest host. Rosie O'Donnell has been a ratings booster for the ABC daytime show and has caused controversy with tart-tongued comments aimed at leading public figures, including real estate developer Donald Trump.

I will no longer watch "the view."
Elizabeth did not admit to needing Rosie's forgiveness, since she was the reason for Rosie walking out.
I hope Rosie gets a show that is on during the same time as "the view." As I am sure the only topics "the view" has are ones about the cost of clothing and the like, now that Rosie is gone.

I have watched the view from the very beginning and this season was by far the best. I will miss Rosie she did so much for that show. It will be there lost and ratings that will kill it. Rosie will always come up blessed she is truly a good and caring person. Hope to see her on her own show soon.

This news saddens me deeply. Waking up to Rosie gave me go for the day. She and I have more in common than anyone on TV. I used to watch the view before Rosie but only from time to time. Then I tivo'd in case I wasn't home one morning. I will miss her so deeply .. I think I might be ok missing the show now. They never talked enough about important topics before Rosie. I love Walters so I will have to listen to her on hot topics. Other than that I no longer need the View to have a complete day. Nothing against the show. Just that Rosie gave it content. Even if they did brawl. That was the best 4 women on a panel.

I CAN NOT BELEIVE THE CONTROVERSY, I AGREE WITH WHAT ROSIE HAS TO SAY! SHE IS RIGHT , THIS WAR NEEDS TO END , BECAUSE WE ATTACKED THE "TERRORISTS" and in the end we have become the terrorists! I think elizabeth is young and uninformed or ignoring the obviouse , that our president has made a mess of things. To end my comment , i will not be watching the view anymore. rosie brought new life to the view and it will never be the same! It will take alot to match that!

I love Rosie and have become so addicted to the View because of her...in fact, I have been continuously late to work in order to view the hot topics! I have never bonded with Elizabeth and personally feel that she lives in a bubble...it's unfortunate that we have lost Rosie in order to help Elizabeth grow...in more ways than one...

I say little Miss Elisabeth should take a trip overseas and see if she comes back with a different opinion or comes back at all.

Well, ABC, terminated Rosie's contract three weeks earlier, and Rosie did not walk out of The View. She was "let go" and this is not the end of Rosie. She will be on television again.

On Rosie's blog, she stated that she felt like a "Foster child" in a family where she never really fit in or was never fully "accepted". Shame on them! The View will suffer in the ratings. The View is avoiding the "Rosie" topic. Will avoiding the topic make it go away all together? I think not.

As for Elizabeth, I say, let the Princess get off her high stick. She needs to forgive herself for the things she said -- Shame on you, Elizabeth!

I don't dislike Elizabeth but she has got to be one of the most nieve women I've ever seen for someone her age.

I do believe she needs to be replaced with someone her age who has a more realistic grip on life.

Joy and Barbara have it together and offer some great insight to hot topics, but listening to Elizabeth is so frustrating

Thank God she is off damn television once and for all hopefully! She is so insecure with her own sexual orientation, that she had to make a federal case out of everything stating it was Gay hate! Please....she needs to do some soul searching and find some true happiness before she comes back to polute the airwaves!

I have watched The View for the last year because Rosie was on the show. Without Rosie I have no desire to watch anymore. Elisabeth has to go. Her misguided opinions and loud irritating voice make it impossible to watch the show. Shame on you Elisabeth.

rosie, i want to start by asking for your forgiveness, because this morning when i woke up my mom turned the tv on to the view. i asked her her if you were on and she said no. i was happy to hear this and thought that it probably wasn't a good thing to feel that way. i asked GOD to forgive me and that didn't seem like enough so i am wriiting here in hopes that you may read it and be able to look over my faults. i think you are a very funny comedian and i wish you the best in success. knowing that there are no perfect humans and that the only hope for perfection is in Jesus Chirst i humbly asked for forgiveness for the way i felt. i do not wish for you or your family to be in the poor house But just the opposite, i only prayer is that you surrender you talents and your Life to GOD abd let lead you to GLory Through this rough journey we call life. Once again Im sorry, i felt so bad after i realized how wrong i was , God Bless You and yours. Sincerly
LEB.

For once, I could turn on the tv in the morning - I was packing my household to leave the US for good - and I could find an intelligent, well spoken and proudly opinionated American who was willing to FIGHT for the freedom of speech that this country is supposed to represent. Al Gore could take a lesson here.

When that camera would swing on Rosie, she never faltered - she wowed me with her opinions and she had the forceful facts to back them up every time. Rosie should not be silenced by a network overeager to return to the mindless pablum that is fed to women everyday during their daily television programming, excepting Oprah, of course. However, Elizabeth H. will prosper well in the "mindless pablum" environment of morning television - no wonder she will be staying. Where else could she possibly find an outlet for her repititive and propagandistic opinions? She has no particular talent that I could discern, except being a foil for Rosie.

I do hope that Ms. O'Donell continues to spread her message and reach more people in a long and healthy career. As for myself, I have voted with my feet and left the United States. I have great respect for those who hold similar opinions to Ms. O'Donnell's and who have the courage to stay in America and voice them.
